How It Works
1
Know the 3 Numbers
Always call [Serving Score] - [Receiving Score] - [Server 1 or 2] before every serve.
2
Check Even / Odd Score
Team score is Even? Starting server is on the Right. Team score is Odd? Starting server is on the Left.
3
Rotate Only on Points
Only the serving team swaps sides after winning a rally. Receiving team stays in their court positions.
The Even / Odd Court Positioning Rule
Never get confused on the court again: memorize the starting server position formula.
| Team Score | Starting Server Position | Partner Position | Court Side |
|---|---|---|---|
| EVEN Score (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10...) | Right Service Court | Left Service Court | Deuce Side (Even) |
| ODD Score (1, 3, 5, 7, 9...) | Left Service Court | Right Service Court | Ad Side (Odd) |

Understanding Server #1 vs Server #2
In pickleball doubles, each team gets two chances to serve (two outs) before turning the ball over to the other team:
- 1.Server #1: The player on the right side when a side-out occurs serves first. If they commit a fault, the ball passes to Server #2.
- 2.Server #2: Serves from wherever they are currently stationed. If they commit a fault, it is a Side Out.
