How It Works
Choose Social or Dynamic
Pick Americano for all-play-all partner rotations, or Mexicano for skill-adapted ladders.
Set Point Pool
Choose 16, 21, 24, or 32 points. Entering one score auto-calculates the other.
Live Leaderboard
Points accumulate individually after every match on mobile browsers with zero app downloads.
Side-by-Side Format Comparison
Why clipboards and paper sheets break down: the mathematics behind social Americano rotations versus dynamic Mexicano skill ladders.
| Feature | Americano (Social Mixer) | Mexicano (Dynamic Skill) |
|---|---|---|
| Matchup Algorithm | Pre-calculated round-robin matrix. Everyone partners with each player once. | Dynamic ranking algorithm. Round 1 is random/seeded; subsequent rounds pair nearest rank neighbors. |
| Court 1 Matchup Formula | Rotates systematically across courts. | #1 & #3 vs #2 & #4 |
| Court 2 Matchup Formula | Rotates systematically across courts. | #5 & #7 vs #6 & #8 |
| Scoring Format | Point Pool (16, 21, 24, or 32 pts) or Timed rounds. | Point Pool (typically 24 or 32 pts) to guarantee balanced point sums. |
| Leaderboard Metric | Individual accumulated total points and point differential. | Individual total points, PPG (Points Per Game), and win rate. |
| Best Player Experience | High mingling, social icebreaking, works for diverse mixed skill groups. | Blowouts eliminated by Round 3; tight, exhilarating games for all courts. |
The 24-Point Pool Scoring Math
In traditional 11-point games, when one team reaches 11, the game stops. In a 24-Point Pool, exactly 24 serves/points are played total:
Good Game Buddy features 1-tap auto-complement: entering Team 1's score immediately computes Team 2's score (S2 = 24 - S1).
Bye & Sit-Out Balance Math
What happens when you have 9, 10, or 13 players? Clipboards leave players sitting out 2 rounds in a row or penalize their cumulative points.
- ✓Round-Robin Bye Queue: Ensures no player sits twice before everyone has rested once.
- ✓PPG Tie-Breaker: Standings rank by points-per-game played so resting players stay competitive.
